We don’t often use the phrase “make history” lightly. But on July 18th, we mean it literally.
Saber the Moment is coming to Bohemia Manor Farm, right on the water of the Maryland famous eastern shore — and it is exactly as extraordinary as it sounds. This is a Guinness World Record attempt: the most people simultaneously sabering a bottle of sparkling wine in the same place at the same time. One venue. One moment. One record.
Get your tickets here, so you can be a part of this world record (and you get to drink at the same time!!).
What Is Sabering, and Why Does It Matter?Sabering — or sabrage, as the French call it — is the art of opening a bottle of sparkling wine with a single, swift stroke of a blade along the seam of the bottle. The result is a clean break at the neck, a satisfying pop, and a moment that never fails to draw a gasp from everyone watching. It’s theatrical, it’s celebratory, and done correctly, it’s genuinely impressive.
Click to watch wine maker Gabriel Rubilar saber a bottle of Bohemia Blue in the Bohemia Manor Farm vineyards.
Now imagine hundreds of people doing it at exactly the same moment on the banks of the Bohemia River, with the Guinness World Records officiating and a crowd that has gathered specifically to make this happen.
That’s July 18th.
Bohemia Manor Farm is not just hosting this event — they’re putting their wine behind a cause that matters deeply to this region. Bohemia Manor Farm is partnering with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation by continuing their Save The Blue project and donating a portion of every bottle of Bohemia Blue sparkling wine sold to CBF’s ongoing work to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay. So when you saber that bottle on July 18th, you’re not just breaking a world record — you’re contributing to the health of the very waterway that makes this corner of Maryland so extraordinary.
The CBF has been the Bay’s most effective environmental advocate for decades, fighting for cleaner water, healthier fisheries, and the long-term resilience of one of the country’s most iconic ecosystems. This partnership feels exactly right. Raise a glass — and help save the Bay in the same gesture.
Journey Moore Often and our associated podcast Tipsy Tagalongs are proud sponsors of Saber the Moment, and we are showing up fully for this one.
We’ll be live podcasting on July 18th from the event itself — capturing the energy, the countdown, the record attempt, and everything that unfolds in real time. But we’re not waiting until event day to bring you into this story.
We’ll be podcasting ahead of time as well, with at least one episode diving into the details of the event, what to expect, how to prepare, and why this particular partnership — world record + Chesapeake Bay conservation + a spectacular Easter Shore Maryland venue — is one of the most unique events we’ve been part of.
Stay tuned to our podcast feed. More is coming.
This is a first-come, first-remembered kind of event. Spots are not unlimited, and a record attempt of this nature requires participants who are registered and ready. If you want to be part of it — and you really, really should want to be part of it.
Don’t wait. Don’t assume. Register.
There’s something deeply fitting about this event happening on the banks of the Bohemia River, at a winery that has been growing grapes on this historic Maryland soil since 2016, in partnership with the organization that has been fighting for the health of the Chesapeake Bay for more than fifty years.
On July 18th, all of it comes together. A world record. A conservation cause. A sparkling wine made right here. And a crowd of people who showed up to be part of something that’s never been done at this scale before.
We’ll see you there.
Journey Moore Often, because some moments are too good to watch from the sidelines.
