In the Mid-Atlantic and North East regions of the US, there is pretty much an unlimited source of things to do. Between events, music and theatre, you can fill up every night with something different. Whether in Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, Wilmington, DE, Philadelphia, PA, or New York, NY, there’s so much going on that it can be overwhelming.
Understanding the types of things to do in this category are virtually limitless, but here’s how we’ve categorized them.
Facebook and Twitter advertise upcoming opportunities ad naseum.
Music
Between stadiums, local restaurants and bars, it’s easy to find music, excellent music. The headline shows are highlighted at the stadiums, performing art centers. There are multiple locations and opportunities in each of the big cities.
If you like smaller crowds, consider good smaller acts, like The Shucked Oyster Band. You can find them at local venues in more of a casual dining or bar setting.
Theatre
There are a numerous good theatre productions that can be found and enjoyed. Each large city has several professional venues. Even in the suburbs there are a number of theatre groups that put on plays in your local neighborhood. It’s surprising the amount of talent, especially at the local level.
One of the things we’ve found that’s fun are interactive theatre productions. This is where the stage can be a large building with multiple rooms and floors, or even the street. For example, Sleep No More at the McKittrick Hotel occurs in a renovated warehouse, and Accomplice The Show on the street in Lower Manhattan.
Hiking
We do have this as a separate category, but it’s still something to do. With the Appalachian Trail within two hours of pretty much the entire region, there’s literally thousands of miles of hiking. From through hiking to day hiking to suburban hiking to urban hiking, there’s some sort of hiking for everyone. Plus, you don’t have to be a professional hiker with a lot of gear.
