If you’re looking for quality seafood in the tri-state area (Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania), George and Sons Seafood Market is the place to go. They have a great market that sells a variety of good seafood, and in the last few years they created a great restaurant complete with a raw oyster bar (scroll down for more detail).
Need a party catered? They can do that too.
Owned and operated by George and his two sons, it’s definitely a family affair, and it’s unusual not to get personal service from at least one member of the family.
Located in a standalone building on Old Lancaster Pike in Hockessin, DE (pronounced Hoe-kess-in) is easily found and has a generous amount of parking in the general vicinity.
We purchase our seafood almost exclusively at the market, and have frequented the restaurant a number of times.

This particular time we chose the raw oyster bar, for Happy Hour on a Tuesday night. Normally the Happy Hour specials only apply while you’re sitting at the Oyster Bar, but it was busy night and we were able to sit in the general restaurant area and still take advantage of the raw oyster special.

We also ordered the steamed to perfection Peel and Eat Texas Shrimp off the Share Plates menu which was delicious. Gary decided he didn’t want to share and ate the entire pound himself. Happy Birthday Gary!
Note – the shrimp was so good, this picture was after some was already eaten!
There are many other great menu choices at George and Sons, including salads, flatbreads, mouthwatering sandwiches and main course options.
